"I truly believe in the mission and goals of Ohio AEYC. I have enjoyed my work as a member of the Board of Directors for over 4 years and have witnessed the growth of the organization and am excited about the promising direction in which we are headed.
I am passionate about our field of early care and education! Specifically the components of creating an engaging, accepting, and loving learning environment for all children in which families, fellow professionals, and the community play a significant role.
One of the most immediate challenges is the ability to strengthen our professional development and collaboration as a field in the very difficult economic climate we face today. Additionally, and in juxtaposition to this, we face tremendous opportunities for growth at the state level through building relationships with entities who influence our field via regulation, accreditation, and funding. Also, on a federal level, early care and education continues to gain recognition and the attention of policy makers and stakeholders who can impact our work tremendously. Our responsibility is to respond to these challenges in ways that demonstrate knowledge that is reliable and current regarding what is best for educators and caregivers working with young children and their families; establishing communication, visibility, and collaborative relationships based on trust; and remaining open to both receiving and disseminating information, perspectives, and dialogue that demonstrates nimbleness. I am fully confident that early care and education professionals in the state of Ohio are committed, competent, and capable of addressing all of these issues we face. As president, I am honored for the opportunity to work alongside our membership in doing so."
